The wonders of customer service

As Esteban puts it, I’m still having wet dreams of having a completely quiet PC without splurging over $1,200 on one of those Zalman cases that the NSA uses for holding meetings in.

My experiences with the Fortron Aurora power source were quite positive, but still the problem of silencing the Athlon XP 1.7GHz remained. I attempted to order several times from Quiet PC, but on this occasion I got weird random errors from their e-commerce solution.

I ended up going for an Arctic Cooling Copper Silent 2L fan, ordered from PC Toy Land. It was like the universe was making a joke - the fan make a hellish clacket, like that of a playing card trapped in the spokes of a bicycle wheel. Ready to give up, I started thinking that I was unable to keep wasting time with this shit, and it was cheaper to just buy a laptop for the piece of mind and forget I ever used desktops.

I e-mailed them, explaining the problem quite politely and asking how should I proceed about obtaining a refund. I got a quick response back, asking if a replacement would do. Surprised by their swiftness I agreed, as long as they could sent it out quickly - and they did. That very same day I got an UPS shipment notification, and the new fan arrived promptly. This one does work properly, and thanks to Todd and the gang at PC Toy Land I now have an almost completely silent machine.

I’ll be using these guys for any hardware parts I need in the future. It’s great to find a company that understands what customer service really means.
