Mac OS X File Shredder

Shredder

It’s not paranoia if they’re after you, and with your privacy continually under attack, one can never be too careful. Did you know that when you delete a file, it doesn’t actually go anywhere? Deleting a file is merely a way of telling the operating system you can now use this space, which it may or may not do right away, and even after the space has been overwritten several times there’s still a chance your information could be recovered.

Enter Shredder, a cool - and free - little widget for Mac OS. Shredder doesn’t just deletes files, but overwrites them using an algorithm strong enough to meet Department of Defense standards. If you’re getting rid of information you don’t want anybody else to be able to snoop into, you should use something like this.
