Future Day

Posted on Thursday 29 June 2006

Seems like today’s the day for news from the future:

  • A just-announced voice-activated wrist-worn PC that runs Linux. I’m
considering it merely a concept at this stage, given they have nothing
but a 3d graphic and a press release which look just right for scaring
up some investment, but they’re interesting on to merit keeping tabs on them

  • Regrowing teeth and (possibly) bones.
  • And finally, a list of interesting network projects, including a social
    interaction simulation
that sounds like the air-breathing land-walking
fish ancestor to Ken McLeod’s fast folk.

You could use this for engineering robot collectives,” he said. “We
could tell them how to engineer the minds of a group of robots in such a
way that the group as a total would behave in a desirable way.”

Enjoy.
