More than jetlagged I feel caffeine-lagged. I got used to drinking more grüner tee in Berlin to keep warm, plus kept sampling the capuccinos at places where I stopped in the afternoons. Now that I’m back on a lower dosage, my body is kind of resenting it.

I brought back some rooibos that I found at an organic supermarket, but given its lack of caffeine, I’ll wait until I’ve re-balanced my caffeine intake to try it.

For those of us who would like to live forever, here’s a new interesting news: watermelon can act as an immunity booster.

In addition to containing plentiful amounts of the health-promoting antioxidant lycopene, watermelon is an excellent source of the amino acid citrulline.

    [...]

The human body uses citrulline to make another important amino acid—arginine—which plays a key role in cell division, wound healing and the removal of ammonia from the body.

    [...]

Medical researchers are currently evaluating arginine as a possible treatment for high blood pressure, elevated glucose levels and the vascular complications associated with sickle-cell disease.

If such studies pan out, concentrated forms of watermelon could represent an all-natural amino acid source. The fruit’s good-for-the-body lycopene is an added bonus.
