Changing addresses

I'm switching from my current mail forwarding company, Aerocasillas, to another one due to the multiple problems I've had with them (it's their customer service that sucks, mostly). If I forgot to send you the new address, please e-mail me (I'm not putting it up here for the Spam Gods to gaze upon - though I'm sure they'll get their paws on it soon enough).

Nobilis news

Philippe Tromeur posted online the ads for the French edition of the much-expected Nobilis 2nd Edition, and was kind enough to translate the text. I'm quoting:

1st ad : "Mary, Dark Lady of Gore. Will you invite her for a dance on the Razor Fields, amidst the bombs ?"

    (Casus Belli 10, october 2001)

2nd ad : "Ianthe, subtle Marchessa of Debate, exhort the Nobilis to take arms. Will you listen to her ? Together, will you fight the enemies of Creation ?"

    (Casus Belli 11, December 2001)

3rd ad : "Parasiel, the Angel with a Hundred Hands, cast away for his sins, invites the audience to share his joy. The oracle has spoken : there is no future for the enemy"

    (Casus Belli 12, February 2001)

And while we wait here, slavering in envy over the francophone's luck at having finally received their copies of Nobilis and expecting that Hogshead releases the English version sometime this aeon, hop over to Hogshead site and check out the Introduction and the Example of Play from the new edition.

(Rumors have it, by the way, that Nobilis won't be available in English until March 2002. Rumors never carry any good news, it seems.)

Long time no write

Once more, too busy to report regularly. That and the fact that we bought a decent TV, so I'm reviewing my movie collection on something larger than my monitor. Have stopped by the movies after the disappointing Harry Potter only to watch Kiss of the Dragon, which is the first decent action I've seen in quite a while.

Maybe I'm jaded, but I've been needing a no-frills kill-the-bad-guys-and-save-the-girl action movie for a while.

Bloody useless wizard (Spoilers)

Is it just me, or is Harry Potter the most terribly useless Messiah since Anakin Skywalker in Episode I? The brat is supposedly the most formidable wizard to ever be born, but he's the only kid in the whole movie that doesn't do even half a spell other than ride the Mega Broomstick. Heck, he can't even levitate the bloody feather with his much-fussed-over Phoenix-plucked magic wand.

Instead of awarding him browney points for saving the world, he should have gotten his arse kicked out of school - since the only way for Foozle to have a chance to get the McGuffin was for Potter to be at the cellar. And what sort of happy ending is sending him back to those trolls of a family supposed to be?

Too bad, since it started out quite well.

Surprise, surprise

It seems that Amazon.com bought the remains of Egghead, which had been dying a slow death since August 2001 (not coincidentally, the same time that they started screwing up orders). I should read The Register more often, I hadn't found out about this one.

From what I can see, Egghead.com is currently still redirecting to Amazon.com, so given Amazon.com's excellent service record it's probably safe to shop there again.

Happy New Year

Yeah, I'm late. Sorry. Happy late birthday to me too.
