Given the recent photo by Sonny, my guess is that you must be getting sick and tired of seeing my ugly mug around. That didn't stop me from adding a new photo, however, this time a self portrait with experimenting with my new digital camera (yes, I was unable to resist).
A good photographer like you, given a high-Mpixel a light-sensitive digital camera, can work wonders and experiment as much as you want without the traditional costs of developing and printing film. Bravo!
What exactly did you get?
Posted by: Rique at April 16, 2004 08:37 AMThanks for the kind words, my friend. I ended up going for a Digital Rebel. Here we are, from the same experimentation session.
It's a neat camera and it behaves mostly like what I'm used to with my EOS 3. I don't have quite the same level of control, but then again, to get that level of control on a DSLR I would have to pay about the cost of a small tropical island.
And you are right - since getting this camera I've been experimenting much more than I ever did with film. The sole fact that I can see the results right away have two great advantages: first, I can see immediately if the experiments are going anywhere or if I should try a different approach; and second, I can make small changes and see the results on the spot, which not only appeals to the control freak in me but works as a learning tool.
Hopefully soon enough I'll move on from the cat portraits and we'll see some interesting results.
