Frilled shark

A Lovecraft-worthy frilled shark was spotted in Awashima Marine Park, near Tokyo.

That is the single godawful ugliest thing I’ve seen in a while. It’s like one of Lovecraft’s flying polyp, happily swimming like the Creataceous period is still going strong. Check out the pinkish growths near the gills on the following video:
